One major revolution in dentistry was the introduction of adhesive restoration popularly known as bonding. The use of composite resins using the bonding technique has drastically reduced the need to drill healthy tooth structure just to retain the filling as it needs to be done with the traditional silver amalgam fillings.Composites have also made it possible to change smiles and create dramatic smile make overs in very conservative manner using the bonding technology.

Teeth Whitening (Bleaching)is a noninvasive, effective and rapid method of brightening the teeth. This procedure uses a chemical agent usually carbamide peroxide to bleach the teeth. The bleaching process can be done in two ways _ inoffice bleach which is done in the dental clinic and results are noticeable instantly or the home bleach where the dentist makes aspecial tray to fit your teeth and dispenses the bleaching agent which needs to be used every day for 3 to 6 weeks for 2 to 6 hrs every day. A combination of in office bleach followed by home bleach gives the best results and effect lasts longer.

Laminates and Veneers are thin shells of either composite or preferably ceramic which is bonded to the tooth to change the shape, mask the colour or even realign the teeth.

Metal free ceramics
are rapidly replacing the traditional metal ceramic restorations. Ceramic is inherently brittle so it requires the backing of metal to prevent it from fracturing under biting forces. But the newer improved ceramics have better physical properties and hence the need for metal has been eliminated.

Dental ceramics are the most versatile and natural looking material available to a dentist the use of which can drastically change ones smile and appearance.

Procera is a type of metal free ceramic which uses the state of the art CAD CAM method to fabricate the cap or a LAMINATE. When a cap has to be made in Procera ceramic the impression of the tooth is scaned and sent to the milling office in Sweden where the core of the cap is milled from a block of ceramic containing

Zirconia
so the need for metal is eliminated. The core is then couriered to the local lab who then gives the final touches to the cap or laminate. The fit of the Restorations made of Procera is extremely accurate as it is a computer generated fit.

Dental Jewellery

Teeth jewellery is a brilliant way to add sparkles to your smile and stand out of the crowd.

Teeth jewellery ( skyce ) offered at our clinic is made and certified in the EU by the well known company IVOCLAR VIVADENT , and is available in two colours: "crystal" and "sapphire blue". During a painless procedure, a dentist fixes a jewel on the tooth surface. The jewel does not damage tooth tissues and has no side effects – except for the increased charm of your smile! Call it an oral fashion statement to stand out among ordinary mortals or simply an effort to blend in with the bold and the beautiful.

  Dental Jewellery

Skyce is putting an extra sparkle into more and more smiles. Skyce jewels are applied to the labial surfaces of upper anterior teeth.

The trend is catching up with males, especially those heading towards foreign destinations for study or leisure. However, not many girls are visiting clinics and enquiring about tooth jewellery. But it is only a matter of time before " Skyce " acquires universal appeal.

If somebody thinks he or she was better off without tooth jewellery, it can be easily removed without any side effects on the dental tooth structure as the procedure is non-invasive. What's more, tooth jewellery can be fixed again at a later stage.

SO COME & HAVE THAT EXTRA SPARKLE IN YOUR SMILE.

Longevity of Cosmetic Dental work

We would like to mention that some of the cosmetic changes you might choose to make with your teeth could have very long lasting consequences. Please realize that no dental work will last forever. This is especially true when cosmetics are a primary consideration.

While a disadvantage of any teeth whitening process is that its effects will fade with time, a benefit of whitening in general is that as a process it makes no structural changes to a tooth. At some point in the future you can decide to or decide not to under go the teeth whitening process again. Either choice is entirely optional and this leeway may make teeth whitening the best solution for your cosmetic needs.

To the contrary, having porcelain veneers or dental crowns placed means that there will always need to be a porcelain veneer or dental crown on the tooth. So, if a crown or veneer comes off, breaks, or just deteriorates from a standpoint of its appearance, another crown or veneer will need to be made. (You will have to ask your dentist for details regarding your specific situation but in general this applies to dental bonding as well.

GAP CLOSURES

Gaps between teeth is considered lucky by some but most people do not want space between their front teeth. The advent of adhesive (bonding) dentistry has made it possible to close gaps (diestema) using composites or by ceramic veneers.

Composite veneers are cheaper and can be done in a single visit directly in the mouth. But the disadvantage of this method is that it is not as long lasting as ceramic veneers.

Ceramic veneers are more expensive and takes time as it is fabricated in the lab so it involves two sittings. But they are more stronger and the look of ceramics is very life like and they do not get stained at all.

What are veneers?

A veneer is a thin facing of porcelain or plastic material which serves to replace only the front visible part       of the tooth. It is used for tooth repair and to whiten the teeth permanently and make the mouth more       attractive.

After the dentist has prepared the tooth, an impression is taken and sent to the technician, where the       veneer is made.

The porcelain veneer is cemented into place, using a special cement that bonds it to the tooth.

This is a conservative and popular method for improving the appearance of teeth.
